Support community outreach and client services as a full time Outreach Worker with Shelter Nova Scotia in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This Outreach Worker serves individuals, couples, and families experiencing unsheltered homelessness. The work involves social services, human services, and connecting people with shelter and housing options. You will meet people in encampments, vehicles, wooded areas, and other Halifax Regional Municipality locations.
Key Responsibilities: Meet people experiencing unsheltered homelessness where they are
Address immediate needs for individuals, couples, and families
Connect people with shelter and housing options
Support people identifying goals they want to pursue
Contribute to spaces without judgement and community belonging
Requirements: Degree in social sciences, social work, or human services
Relevant diploma, experience, or combination of education and experience
Valid driver's licence
Favourable criminal record and child abuse registry checks
Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
Bring outreach, homelessness services, and client support experience to Shelter Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality team.
