About the role Manulife is hiring a full time remote Underwriter. The role involves assessing and classifying risk, making customer-focused decisions, and collaborating with sales, head office, and other partners.
Responsibilities Assess and classify risk according to Manulife's philosophy and standards.
Collaborate with sales and head office colleagues to deliver quality, competitive decisions.
Maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Ensure customer interactions support a positive experience.
Comply with consumer laws and regulations related to risk classification, confidentiality, and disclosure.
Identify and propose solutions to problems and procedures related to underwriting work.
Qualifications At least 3 years of underwriting experience and $1,000,000 or more in life signing authority.
Working toward or completion of FALU, FLMI, and ACS designations.




Knowledge of medical terminology and non-medical mortality risks.
Experience with financial reports and anti-money-laundering practices.
Strong oral and written communication skills, sales orientation, and relationship-building abilities.
Bilingual English and French is an asset; it is required for successful candidates in Québec to support clients outside Québec.
Preferred: $100,000 or more in CI authority, a related university or college degree, negotiation skills, and experience with co-signing, referral reviews, or mentoring.
Compensation Expected salary range: $70,500–$117,500 CAD per year. Incentive compensation may also be available. Actual salary varies based on location and job-related factors.
