Own Tailscale’s software release process through technical coordination, rollout planning, and trusted collaboration across a fully distributed company.
As Release Manager, you will build release management from the ground up and coordinate how Tailscale ships products internally and to customers. You will work with engineering leads, product managers, TPMs, and support while establishing cadence, roles, tooling, and operating norms. Technical fluency in build pipelines, branching strategies, feature flags, and rollout mechanics is essential.
Key Responsibilities: Design and continuously improve release management processes
Define cadence, readiness criteria, rollouts, and go-no-go decisions
Build tooling, templates, runbooks, and release documentation




Coordinate cross-team planning to keep releases on schedule
Track operational metrics and drive systemic improvements
Requirements: Five-plus years in engineering operations or release management
Experience building or significantly improving release processes
Technical understanding of build and deployment pipelines
Knowledge of branching strategies and production operations
Comfort creating structure from ambiguity
Apply release coordination, technical judgment, and operational improvement skills to help Tailscale ship confidently and efficiently.
