Operate public transit vehicles for The City of Red Deer while prioritizing passenger safety, schedule adherence, and skilled customer service.
The City of Red Deer is recruiting six regular permanent part time Transit Bus Operators. Reporting to the Senior Operations Supervisor, you will drive prescribed routes and provide fixed route, charter, school special, and overload services. The work includes passenger assistance, fare procedures, incident reporting, and equipment safety.
Key Responsibilities: Operate transit vehicles on assigned routes and schedules
Maintain passenger comfort, safety, and schedule adherence
Monitor passengers and report incidents to supervisors
Manage fares, transfers, and non-payment situations professionally
Report defects and complete cleaning, pickups, and deliveries
Requirements: Completed Grade 12
Class 2 Alberta Operator’s Licence with Q endorsement
One to two years of commercial driving experience desirable
Knowledge of traffic laws, bylaws, and Highway Traffic Act
Ability to communicate and exercise sound judgment
Bring safe driving, customer relations, fare collection, and emergency judgment to public transit service in Red Deer.
