Explore pion lifetime measurement at TRIUMF in Vancouver, building Geant4 simulations and contributing to detector research. This student role supports experimental physics.
As a Pion Lifetime Experiment Assistant, you will help design a dedicated experiment seeking 0.01% relative uncertainty. You will develop M20 beam line and detector simulation packages, collaborate with beam line experts, and support design decisions. The work includes dedicated simulations, detector R&D;, and possible hands-on work with SiPM-based detectors and LGAD silicon strip sensors.
Key Responsibilities: Build, run, and debug Geant4 and G4beamline simulations
Develop M20 beam line and detector simulation packages
Collaborate with TRIUMF beam line experts
Support pion lifetime experiment design decisions
Present progress through meetings, presentations, and posters
Requirements: Undergraduate enrollment at an accredited post-secondary institution
Ability to work safely with laboratory equipment
Ability to troubleshoot experimental setups
Ability to work independently and request help when needed
