Support Clinical Chemistry and diagnostic services as a Medical Laboratory Assistant at IWK Health’s Halifax location, working permanent part-time hours.
IWK Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Assistant for Clinical Chemistry, NB Screening & ROT, Diagnostic Services, and Maritime Medical Genetics. This position handles laboratory functions including venous and capillary collections, blood specimen processing, reagent preparation, and sterilization. Candidates need a certified Medical Lab Assistant course, CSMLS certification or eligibility, and NSRMLS licensure or eligibility. Experience in a similar laboratory and MEDITECH experience are assets.
Key Responsibilities: Perform venous and capillary blood collections
Complete blood specimen processing activities




Prepare reagents for assigned laboratory functions
Clean and sterilize equipment and work areas
Perform related laboratory duties as required
Requirements: Minimum high school diploma or GED
Required English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, or equivalents
Solid planning, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work with others and within teams
Willingness to learn and perform computer functions
Bring laboratory training, organized specimen handling, and collaborative communication to IWK Health’s clinical services in Halifax.
