Support residents at Sunnyside Home as a temporary part-time Home Assistant using compassionate service and infection control skills. Shifts include weekends.
The Region of Waterloo seeks one Home Assistant for up to three months at 247 Franklin St N. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide housekeeping, dining room, and resident support services. The position requires resident-focused communication, protected food handling, cleaning procedures, and organized task completion. You will help maintain a caring, person-centred, home-like environment where resident choice and emotional well-being matter.
Key Responsibilities: Clean, disinfect, and tidy rooms, bathrooms, and home areas
Assist meal service, beverages, table setting, and clearing
Engage residents and participate in programs and activities




Respond to call bells and communicate resident changes
Monitor supplies, equipment, spills, safety issues, and documentation
Requirements: Grade 12 education and related healthcare or long-term care experience
Current Safe Food Handling Certificate
Knowledge of cleaning, infection control, and chemical cleaners
Compassionate communication and resident dignity skills
TB test, immunizations, vulnerable sector check, and shift availability
