The hourly pay range for this position is C$30 per hour - C$45 per hour.Work HoursThe work hours for this position are Mon - Fri + Weekends, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.Key PurposeThe Building Operator owns the safe and reliable operation of all building systems. They monitor and optimize the HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls for all building systems and infrastructure.The role is responsible for identifying and delivering corrective maintenance solutions, while also performing preventive maintenance activities and scheduled inspections to ensure all building systems operate safely and within regulatory compliance. This hands-on position responds to service requests and takes immediate action to resolve equipment breakdowns. This role ensures that all managed utilities and building systems meet operational specifications, documenting all actions taken.This position coordinates and oversees the work of contractors to ensure work is completed safely and sufficiently while keeping the site operations manager, business stakeholders, and end users updated. and maintain building systemsOperational understanding of elevators or vertical lifts, overhead doors, and escalatorsFamiliarity with fire suppression systems and their ongoing checksExperienced in LOTO safety lockout practices and safe maintenance proceduresSkills & KnowledgeAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and schematicsFunctional knowledge of fire protection and life safety systemsFunctional knowledge of emergency generator operations and checksAbility to use hand tools and maintenance shop equipment safelyCapable of performing physically demanding tasks safelyFamiliarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and CMMS systemsCertifications or TrainingCanadian Red Seal Certification in one or more of the following areas: Appliance Service Technician, Boilermaker, Construction Electrician, Plumber, or Refrigeration & Air ConditioningA plus if you have a technical diploma in HVAC, facilities maintenance, or building operationsKey AccountabilitiesAccept ownership and accountability for assigned systems performanceMust be able to perform all the tasks expected of a maintenance technicianMentor and coach maintenance technicians, delegate when necessaryManage contractor and associate conflict, escalating when necessaryBe willing to grow and develop skills to support ongoing business needsMaintain clean shops and general workspaces, ensuring spaces are organizedPerform other duties as assigned by management to support operations and business needsPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
