This senior individual contributor role focuses on foundational infrastructure enabling engineers to develop, extend, and support Elasticsearch. You will design scalable features, improve developer productivity, and work across teams on technical projects. The team owns services, settings, scripting, observability, serverless orchestration, and delivery workflows.
Key Responsibilities: Evolve core infrastructure underpinning Elasticsearch
Automate development workflows and integrate agentic applications
Design horizontally scalable features and APIs
Resolve performance and concurrency issues




Own operational investigations through resolution
Requirements: Hands-on CI/CD experience with Buildkite, Argo CD, or GitOps
Solid core Java, algorithms, and data structures knowledge
Experience crafting APIs and evaluating tradeoffs
Knowledge of Gradle or other Java build tools
Experience leading projects across engineering teams
Apply Java, API design, automation, and operational problem-solving skills to improve Elasticsearch platform productivity at Elastic.
