Lead eReader software teams at Rakuten Kobo in Toronto, applying C++ expertise and technical leadership across three Agile teams.
As an experienced Software Engineering Manager, you will lead approximately 20 engineers and testers improving software underlying Kobo’s market-leading eReader devices. You will guide technical delivery from system design through monitoring and incident response. The role also includes mentoring, coaching, project management, and collaboration with Product, Design, and Architecture.
Key Responsibilities: Lead approximately 20 engineers and testers across three Agile teams
Provide technical leadership from system design through incident response

Collaborate with Product, Design, and Architecture peers




Continuously improve processes, team health, and technical outcomes
Requirements: Five or more years leading Software Engineering teams
Five or more years as a Software Engineer, preferably C++
Experience managing individuals, feedback, and performance reviews
Understanding of consumer software development challenges and best practices
Experience with project management and AI-assisted engineering workflows
Bring C++, leadership, and consumer software experience to improve eReader engineering outcomes at Rakuten Kobo.
