About Dairy Lane Systems:

Dairy Lane Systems (DLS) started in 1990 as a Surge and Mueller milking equipment dealer. Throughout the years DLS has expanded its scope to fully service all the major functions of a dairy farm. From the installation and servicing of automated milking systems (including robotics) and automated manure equipment, animal stabling and ventilation we do it all here at DLS! In addition, we build and service biogas plants (DLS Biogas) and also build dairy barns (DLS Structures).

This is physically demanding, hands-on work in an agricultural environment. You will work inside dairy barns and outdoors in all weather conditions, including around livestock, manure, mud and strong odours. Being comfortable with these conditions is an essential part of the role.

You will work on equipment such as screw press separators, centrifugal and piston pumps, manure agitators and scrapers, augers, electric motors, gearboxes and associated piping and controls.

Responsibilities

- Diagnose equipment problems, identify their causes and complete effective repairs.
- Install, service and maintain manure handling equipment and related mechanical systems.
- Assemble and repair piping, pumps, valves and other system components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components within your training and qualifications.
- Perform maintenance welding and basic fabrication as needed.
- Complete preventive maintenance and identify worn components or developing problems.
- Work independently and with the DLS team to complete installations and service calls.




- Explain repairs and equipment issues clearly to customers.
- Complete service records and required paperwork accurately.
- Follow safe work procedures and maintain a safe, organized work area.

Skills and Qualifications

- Several years of relevant experience as a millwright, maintenance mechanic, agricultural equipment technician or mechanical service technician.
- Solid mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to work through equipment failures independently.
- Practical experience across several areas, including pumps, piping and plumbing, hydraulics, motors, gearboxes, welding and general equipment maintenance.
- Working knowledge of electrical components and controls, with an understanding of when specialized support is required.
- Confidence using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment.
- The ability to organize your work, exercise sound judgment and take ownership of assigned jobs.
- Clear communication skills and a professional approach with customers and coworkers.
- The ability to perform physical work involving lifting, climbing, bending, pushing and working in awkward positions.
- A valid G driver’s licence and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.

A millwright licence, farm background or experience servicing dairy or manure handling equipment would be an asset.
