About the Role

SNOW CHOP is looking to hire one reliable, hard-working Snow Removal Labourer for the 2026/27 winter season.

This position is ideal for someone looking to earn extra income alongside their regular employment or studies during the winter season. It’s a great fit for students, part-time workers, or anyone looking for flexible seasonal work and additional winter income.

Work is weather-dependent and dispatched after qualifying snow events, making it a great opportunity for someone who wants additional seasonal income and can maintain the required availability when snow removal services are needed.

This is a weather-dependent, piece-work position running from November 1 to April 15. Compensation is based on assigned and successfully completed snow-removal work rather than a traditional full-time hourly schedule.

The successful candidate will be responsible for shovelling snow from walkways, steps, and entry paths at residential properties throughout Fort St. John.

This position involves shovelling only.

This is a mobile position. There is no requirement to report to an office or shop before starting assigned work. Work assignments, routes, property information, and job instructions are provided through the company mobile app.

The successful candidate will use their own vehicle and smartphone and travel directly to assigned residential properties.

Snow Event Availability

The successful candidate must be available for dispatched snow removal work throughout the November 1 to April 15 winter season.

Work is triggered when snowfall reaches 2 inches of accumulation and may be dispatched Sunday through Saturday, including holidays.





Assigned work must be completed within the applicable 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM service window.

All assignments, routes, property information, and job instructions are provided through the company mobile app. The successful candidate uses their own vehicle and smartphone and travels directly to assigned properties. There is no requirement to report to an office or shop before starting assigned work.

Responsibilities

- Shovel snow from assigned residential walkways, steps, and entry paths
- Complete assigned properties efficiently and to SNOW CHOP service standards
- Follow property-specific instructions provided through the company work app
- Maintain clean and skilled work standards at every property
- Follow company safety procedures
- Use the company work app to receive assignments, routes, property information, and job instructions
- Accurately record completed work through the company app
- Communicate clearly and promptly report property issues, damages, delays, or other concerns
- Work independently and manage assigned properties efficiently within the required service window

Requirements

- Valid Class 5 or N driver's licence
- Reliable personal vehicle for travelling between assigned residential properties
- Smartphone with a data plan capable of running the company work app
- Comfortable receiving work assignments and instructions digitally




- Able to work independently without reporting to an office or shop before starting
- Ability to work outdoors in harsh winter conditions
- Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs and shovel snow for extended periods
- Dependable, punctual, and able to manage assigned work efficiently
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Snow removal experience is an asset but not required
- Must maintain availability for snow events throughout the winter season
- Must understand that work is weather-dependent and dispatched when snowfall reaches the 2-inch service trigger
- Must be available for dispatched work Sunday through Saturday, including holidays
- Fluent English communication skills, both spoken and written
