CNC Lathe Machinist / Programmer

Our client is an established custom machine shop located in Waterloo, specializing in high-precision prototyping and machining across a diverse range of materials. They are known for their technical expertise, collaborative environment, and commitment to delivering quality components to a broad client base.

Our client is currently looking for a CNC Lathe Machinist to manage the full production cycle of precision parts.

Responsibilities

- Set up and operate CNC lathes to manufacture custom parts from various materials.
- Utilize Mastercam X platform for 2D and 3D programming and toolpath generation.
- Manage the complete machining process from start to finish at an assigned workstation.
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Perform precise measurements and inspections using standard metrology tools to ensure quality standards.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material and design requirements.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain tolerances.




- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensure all parts meet strict quality control standards before delivery.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of hands-on experience in CNC machining.
- Valid trade certification in Machinist or a related field.
- Proficiency with the Mastercam X platform for programming.
- Strong understanding of 2D and 3D programming principles.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and GD&T.;
- Excellent knowledge of various machining materials and cutting tools.
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
