We are expanding our eye care service offerings and looking for an experienced, customer-focused Licensed Optician to join our growing team.

Position Summary

We are seeking a friendly, highly skilled Licensed Optician to oversee optical dispensaries, consult with patients on eyewear selection, and manage precision fittings. Working alongside our Optometrists and clinical support staff, you will ensure patients receive optimal visual solutions, exceptional service, and high-quality frames and lenses.

Key Responsibilities

- Interpret prescription specifications from Optometrists and Ophthalmologists to guide patients on lens types, coatings, and frame selections.
- Take accurate facial measurements (pupillary distance, segment height, vertex distance, etc.) for precise lens fitting.
- Frame styling, ordering, dispensing, adjusting, and repairing optical products.
- Verify fabricated eyewear against prescription standards before patient handoff.
- Educate patients on optical products, proper eyewear care,



and contact lens insertion/removal protocols.
- Manage optical inventory, frame purchasing, repair parts, and relationships with optical labs.
- Process direct insurance billing, patient invoicing, and maintain optical records within EMR.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting dispensary space.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Certification: Valid License to practice as an Optician with the College of Opticians of Ontario (COO) in good standing.
- Experience: 1+ years of dispensing optician experience preferred (new grads welcome to apply).
- Strong understanding of lens technologies, frame fitting, and optical lab processes.
- Proficiency with optical retail software, direct insurance billing portals, and basic EMR entry.
- Outstanding communication, patient care, and interpersonal skills.
