Morinville Pharmacy is an independent, apothecary-style practice focused on strong clinical care, teamwork, and strong patient relationships. We’re building a pharmacy the community can count on, and we’re looking for a part-time Pharmacist to cover an upcoming maternity leave and grow with us during an exciting stretch.
Our work environment is steady, purposeful, and grounded in real care. We are not driven by corporate metrics, rushed quotas, or pressure to cut corners. The pace is busy, and the work is steady, but the patient is always the priority. We work closely with the medical clinic next door, so you’ll know the doctors by name and can pick up the phone when something needs sorting out. Together, we give patients a consistent, connected experience across both sides.
This is a part-time term position covering a maternity leave. Expected two shifts per week (9 AM to 7 PM), approximately 20–22 hours beginning in April 2027 (approximately 12–18 months). We’ll bring you on gradually ahead of the start date, and a casual pharmacist is on hand for additional coverage, so you’re supported and never carrying it alone.
Compensation and Benefits
We believe in paying fairly and sustainably for the work that’s being done. Our wage for this role is $55 per hour, supported by Alberta Blue Cross benefits. As our service model evolves and we reach new milestones, everyone benefits. We are an independent pharmacy, which means we don’t rely on grocery or cosmetic departments to subsidize wages. Every dollar goes directly into staffing, patient care, and maintaining a strong, reliable workplace.
Since Morinville is a small community, this role can qualify you for the federal Canada Student Loan Forgiveness program (up to $60,000 over five years) now open to pharmacists as of December 31, 2025. The program's rural-service requirement is hours-based (about 400 hours of in-person patient care within a 12-month period),
so these two shifts a week (roughly 1,000 hours a year) are more than enough to qualify you, even if your main role stays in Edmonton or St. Albert.
For a new or early-career pharmacist, that’s a significant head start on your student debt. (Eligibility — including any minimum-hours requirements — is confirmed through the National Student Loans Service Centre.)
What Makes This Role Stand Out
- The pharmacy closes at 7 PM. Your evenings are respected, and we are not looking to extend those hours
- A cohesive, respectful pharmacy team that supports each other
- The opportunity to work alongside an experienced, licensed pharmacist known for outstanding, hands-on training, practising in a truly clinical, patient-facing setting right next to the medical clinic. A rare chance to sharpen your clinical skills under strong mentorship.
- Real collaboration with the clinic next door through communication, shared care, and the medical-home approach
- An environment built on efficiency, care, and accountability
- Keep your role in the city and still qualify for loan forgiveness. The rural-service requirement is hours-based (~400 hours a year), which two shifts a week clear comfortably. Morinville is only 10 minutes from St. Albert and about 20 minutes from Edmonton. An easy commute along the Henday without the stress of city driving
- A chance to influence a growing, community-focused practice with high standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy or PharmD
- License to practice from ACP.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to provide exceptional customer service.
Who We’re Looking For
- A pharmacist who finds meaning in patient care and wants their work to matter
- Someone who thrives in a busy but supportive environment
- A clinician who works efficiently, without sacrificing quality
- A professional who values teamwork, independence, and contributing to a practice that’s still growing intentionally
- New graduates are warmly encouraged to apply - we’ll support your growth
What We Offer
- $55/hour with Alberta Blue Cross benefits
- Part-time hours — two shifts per week (9 AM–7 PM), about 20–22 hours, covering the maternity leave; the pharmacy closes at 7 PM, and we don’t extend those hours
- Potential federal student-loan forgiveness of up to $60,000 over five years (rural / small-community eligibility)
- A stable, respectful, team-driven workplace
- Opportunities for meaningful clinical work: medication management, follow-up, chronic care support
- Mentorship and hands-on training from an experienced, licensed pharmacist in a clinical, clinic-adjacent practice
- A chance to be part of shaping a pharmacy that is evolving with purpose
If you want to practice pharmacy in a place where care comes first, the team is strong, and your clinical judgment is respected, we’d be happy to meet you.
