Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controls & Automation Installer to support the installation and integration of control systems across commercial and industrial projects. This role involves working with Building Automation Systems (BAS), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and building lighting control systems.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in controls installation, is comfortable working independently on-site, and can deliver clean, accurate work aligned with project drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and terminate control wiring, instrumentation, and automation systems
- Install and integrate Building Automation Systems (BAS) including controllers, sensors, and field devices
- Install, wire, and commission VFDs, including motor connections and control interfaces
- Install and integrate building lighting control systems (relay panels, occupancy sensors, dimming systems, control devices)
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams
- Install control panels, PLC panels, and associated field devices
- Perform conduit, cable routing, and tray installation for control systems
- Assist with system startup, testing, and troubleshooting of BAS, VFDs, and lighting control systems
- Coordinate with Project Managers, electricians,
and programmers to ensure proper system integration
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and adhere to all safety requirements
- Identify and communicate installation issues or discrepancies proactively
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in controls, automation, or electrical installation within commercial or industrial environments
- Proven experience with BAS systems, VFD installation, and lighting controls
- Strong understanding of control wiring, panel terminations, and field devices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics independently
- Experience with PLC systems is an asset
- Familiarity with BAS platforms is an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
