Architectural Coordinator – Low-Rise Residential

Ian Robertson Design is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Architectural Coordinator to join our growing team.

We are looking for someone with 3–5 years of experience in low-rise residential architecture, preferably with a background in production housing. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of residential construction, is proficient in AutoCAD, and has experience preparing, reviewing, and coordinating architectural working drawings.

This position is suited to someone who is organized, has robust technical skills, and can work independently while collaborating with our design team, project managers, and outside consultants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Review architectural designs for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable building codes and project requirements
- Prepare, modify, and coordinate architectural working drawings for low-rise residential projects, including detached homes, semi-detached homes, and townhouses
- Review and check working drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with approved designs and office standards
- Review and coordinate drawings from structural engineers, truss manufacturers, and other outside consultants
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between architectural and consultant drawings
- Review and coordinate floor and roof truss layouts
- Incorporate design changes, client comments, and consultant revisions into construction documents
- Collaborate with Designers, Project Managers, and other team members to resolve technical issues and meet project deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

- Diploma in Architectural Technician (2-year program) or Architectural Technology (3-year program) from a recognized college, or equivalent education




- 3–5 years of experience in low-rise residential architecture
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience preparing and reviewing residential working drawings
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and residential construction methods
- Ability to review architectural designs and identify technical or construction-related issues
- Experience reviewing and coordinating consultant drawings
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and take initiative
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and outside consultants

Assets (Not Required):

- Experience working with production housing and residential builders
- Experience preparing and coordinating townhouse block plans and streetscapes
- Familiarity with municipal building permit and approval processes
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Bluebeam

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
