About Staffing

Calgary

Our client is an established organization within the commercial aviation industry, operating a large and highly active facility supporting aircraft, ground operations, and specialized services. They are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Assistant to join their team and support the Facility & Fleet Manager with keeping day-to-day operations protected, functional, and running smoothly.

This company has a great team and a collaborative, supportive culture where safety, professionalism, accountability, and teamwork are highly valued.

This is also a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills and build their career. While experience in facilities, fleet, or maintenance is important, our client understands that the right person may not have experience with everything the role encompasses. They are happy to provide training, mentorship, and hands-on support to someone who brings a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the right cultural fit.

If you’re someone who notices what needs to be done, enjoys troubleshooting, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and well-organized environment, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The key job functions are:

- Support the Facility & Fleet Manager with the daily operation and upkeep of hangars, aircraft ramps, parking areas, grounds, and supporting infrastructure.
- Conduct routine facility inspections, safety walks, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) checks, and general property walkabouts to identify hazards, damage, maintenance needs, or other concerns.
- Coordinate and monitor custodial, groundskeeping, maintenance, landscaping, security, and other third-party service providers, acting as an on-site contact when required.
- Complete minor repairs and general maintenance, including basic work involving carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical,

irrigation, and building upkeep.
- Support preventive maintenance, work orders, equipment upkeep, maintenance records, and the organization of facility tools, manuals, spill kits, and other resources.
- Assist with seasonal property requirements, including snow removal and maintaining protected walkways, parking areas, ramps, and other surfaces.
- Provide hands-on support with fleet vehicles and ground service equipment, including servicing, transportation of parts and supplies, and other maintenance activities when required.
- Support internal and external events and provide operational assistance to other teams, including vehicle movement, parking, baggage room activities, and general facility requirements.
- Complete other facility, fleet, and operational duties as assigned.

Education:

- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Additional training in facilities maintenance, mechanics, heavy equipment operation, or a related technical discipline is considered an asset.

Qualifications:

- Clear RCMP check is required.
- Valid driving license and ability to provide a clear driving abstract if required.

Experience:

- 2+ years of relevant experience in facilities, fleet, maintenance, property operations, or a related hands-on environment is required.
- Experience coordinating contractors or third-party service providers is considered an asset.
- Previous experience with general building maintenance, equipment upkeep, grounds maintenance,

or minor repairs is preferred.

Skills:

- Solid mechanical aptitude and a practical, hands-on approach to troubleshooting are essential.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to assess an issue, determine an appropriate solution, and know when to escalate.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through to completion.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to identify what needs to be done without always being asked.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work professionally with employees, tenants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- The ability to remain calm, organized, and safety-focused in a busy operational environment.
- A strong sense of accountability and pride in maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and professional facility.
