Sushi Bar Staff (Temporary Part-Time, Morning Shift)

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Sushi Bar Staff member to join our sushi bar inside Sobeys (Baseline location) for a fixed-term position through End of December, 2026 (approximately 2 months).

Previous sushi-making experience is an asset, but no prior experience is required. We provide full on-the-job training for candidates eager to learn and work effectively in a team environment.

Weekend availability (both Saturday and Sunday) is mandatory.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and present sushi rolls, bowls, and grab-and-go items with consistent quality.
- Assist with prep work, including sushi rice cooking/seasoning and ingredient preparation.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation throughout the shift.
- Adhere strictly to proper food storage, temperature control, labeling, and FIFO rotation procedures.
- Collaborate closely with team members to keep morning production on schedule.
- Follow all Alberta Health Services food safety standards and workplace health guidelines.

Qualifications

- Previous food service, deli, or commercial kitchen experience is an asset, but not required.




- Eagerness to learn sushi preparation techniques and standardized recipes.
- High standards for personal hygiene, kitchen cleanliness, and food safety.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail food environment.
- Punctual, reliable, and team-oriented mindset.

Position Details

- Employment Type: Part time, Temporary / Fixed-Term Contract
- Duration: Immediate start through End of December, 2026
- Schedule: 4 to 5 days per week (must include Saturdays and Sundays)
- Shift Window: Morning shift, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (4 hours per shift)
- Weekly Hours: 16 to 20 hours per week

Additional Notes

- Work Authorization: Applicants must hold current, valid legal authorization to work in Canada (no work permit sponsorship provided).

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
