About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a client living with Corticobasal Syndrome (CBS/PSP), a progressive neurological condition. The client is non-verbal and communicates exclusively through texting on an iPad or phone. He weighs approximately 190 pounds and experiences mobility challenges affecting the right side of his body, including tremors managed with Parkinson's medication. Despite these challenges, he maintains a positive outlook and spends his days doing crosswords, watching news and talk shows. He was previously very active—going to the gym, cycling, and swimming—before the disease progressed. He uses a walker indoors and has a walker that converts to a wheelchair for outdoor use.

Responsibilities:

- Provide mobility support and fall prevention assistance as the client moves around the home with his walker
- Help the client stand up safely from seated positions
- Assist with transfers to and from the washroom
- Prepare light lunches and snacks as needed
- Provide drinks (water, coffee) throughout the shift
- Accompany the client on short walks around the block on nice days using his walker/wheelchair
- Perform light housekeeping tasks as needed
- Maintain a calm, supportive presence while respecting the client's communication style

What We're Looking For:

- Male caregiver preferred due to the physical demands of supporting a 190-pound client
- Physical strength and ability to assist with fall prevention and secure transfers
- Comfortable communicating via text/iPad rather than verbal conversation




- Experience with mobility support and fall prevention techniques
- Patient, calm demeanor with clients who have progressive neurological conditions
- Reliable and punctual
- 5-10 years of caregiving experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Parkinson's or similar movement disorders is an asset

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (3 hours per day). Occasional flexibility needed—some shifts may be 2 hours instead of 3 with advance notice. Two Fridays per month will be off with one week's advance notice. The client's partner works from home on Fridays and handles care those days.
