M&G; Fencing Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Welder / Welder-Fabricator to join our team.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate must be motivated and skilled with knowledge of the construction industry and heavy-duty equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fabricating, and repairing metal structures. You will work with various ferrous and non-ferrous metals to produce clean, high-quality products that meet all structural specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has excellent spatial reasoning, strong blueprint-reading skills, and an absolute commitment to shop safety.

Responsibilities

- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings to determine fabrication specifications.
- Setup and operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment utilizing GMAW(MIG), FCAW (Flux-Cored), or SMAW (Stick) welding to join metal parts securely and accurately.
- Measure, cut, and grind metal parts using power saws, plasma cutters, oxy-acetylene torches, and angle grinders to prepare components for welding.
- Align and measure dimensions precisely using calipers, tape measures, and other measuring instruments; clamp and tack-weld pieces securely before final welding.
- Inspect finished welds for accuracy, penetration, and defects (e.g. warping, cracks, or porosity); repair worn or defective metal parts as needed.
- Knowledge of rigging techniques, crane operation, forklift handling, and safety procedures.
- Conduct rigging operations for lifting and positioning heavy materials or assemblies safely using cranes or forklifts.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols at all times, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as welding helmet, heat-resistant gloves, and safety boots.




- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment, torches, and shop machinery to ensure a safe and functional work area. Follow company’s Preventative Maintenance program including records of all work performed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years welding or metal fabrication industry experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of trade school program or formal apprenticeship
- Valid welding tickets or certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Welder or industry-standard equivalents, CWB tickets) are considered a major asset but not required.
- Proven proficiency in specific welding techniques (e.g. MIG, Stick, etc.) and a strong understanding of metal properties. Ability to weld in various positions, including flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead.
- Basic math skills required for taking accurate measurements, calculating angles, and interpreting tolerances.
- Ability to lift, move, and position heavy materials up to 50lbs safely.
- High manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and physical stamina.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- Comfort working in a shop environment, which may involve hot/cold conditions, noise, dust, and fumes
