Contract Positions to fill: 1 Job End Date: Nov 22, 2027 Pay Rate: Hourly: Negotiable Job ID: 155957 Our crown corporation client is seeking a Senior Linux / Unix Systems Administrator to support and administer Solaris 11, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9, and Microsoft Azure environments Initial 1-year contract in Ottawa, ON (100% Remote), with robust possibility of extension. 7.5 hours per day Monday to Friday in EST timezone. The selected candidate must hold, or be eligible to apply for a Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance (requires last 10+ years' residency in Canada without leaving for more than 6mo+ at a time). Responsibilities
- Participate in cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including workload assessments, migration planning and execution, cutovers, stabilization, troubleshooting, and post-migration operational support
- Support and administer Solaris 11, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9, and Microsoft Azure environments, including Linux workloads hosted in Azure
- Perform day-to-day UNIX/Linux and cloud platform administration, including maintenance, patching, troubleshooting, security hardening, configuration, and performance tuning
- Assist with the planning, installation, configuration, maintenance, and tuning of Linux servers using Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Ansible playbooks to automate routine system administration, configuration, patching, and operational activities
- Support the automation and modernization of platform operations using Ansible, scripting, CI/CD practices, Azure services,



and other appropriate automation technologies
- Participate in the planning and coordination of operational and project-based activities, including platform lifecycle, migration, upgrade, and modernization initiatives
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation, including build books, operational guides, configuration documentation, and support procedures
- Use AI-assisted and automation technologies where appropriate to improve platform operations, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational efficiency while maintaining appropriate governance and controls
- Perform other related activities and deliverables, as required. Must Have
- 3+ years of demonstrated work experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8/9 environments, including experience with Red Hat Satellite.
- 3+ years of demonstrated work experience administering and supporting Solaris 11 environments.
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience administering and supporting Linux workloads in Microsoft Azure.
- Demonstrated experience participating in cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including workload assessment, migration, cutover, stabilization, troubleshooting, and post‑migration operational support.
- Demonstrated experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, including developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Ansible playbooks.
- Demonstrated experience with UNIX/Linux system administration,



including scripting, packaging, patching, security hardening, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated experience with Red Hat Satellite for Linux systems management, patching, and lifecycle activities.
- Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines as they relate to infrastructure and platform operations.
- Demonstrated experience with scripting and automation to reduce manual infrastructure administration and improve operational consistency.
- Demonstrated experience with Red Hat OpenSCAP or comparable security configuration and compliance assessment technologies Nice to Have
- Experience applying AI-assisted tools to infrastructure administration, troubleshooting, documentation, or operational automation would be considered an asset.
- Experience with Azure automation, monitoring, governance, or infrastructure‑as‑code practices would be considered an asset.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, DevOps Engineer Expert.
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Network Automation, and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
