About us
Redfab makes aviation safety products under the Plane Sights brand. Our Remove Before Flight tags, streamers and covers protect aircraft around the world. We are a small team, certified to AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015. This is a new position created to grow our print capacity.
The role
You will run our industrial UV printer, cut and assemble technical textiles, and keep the records aerospace customers rely on. You report to our Print Operations Manager. After training, you work much of your shift on your own.
About half your time goes to printing, setup and precision cutting. The other half goes to inspection, assembly, packing and production records. The split follows the work.
What you will do
- Start up, run and shut down a high-value industrial printer in the correct sequence
- Clean print heads and complete daily, weekly and monthly maintenance logs
- Edit vector artwork in Adobe Illustrator and send jobs through the RIP
- Load and align materials; check colour, registration and print quality
- Cut fabric and technical materials to tight tolerances
- Set grommets, swage cable and assemble finished products
- Inspect work against drawings and work orders
- Complete job travellers, lot records and inspection results
- Pack and label orders
- Suggest better jigs, fixtures and workflows
What you need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
- Strong computer skills; you pick up new software fast
- Mechanical aptitude and steady hands
- Accurate measuring and the habit of checking your own work
- Ability to follow written procedures exactly
- Safe habits around machinery, UV light and solvents
Nice to have
- Excel and careful recordkeeping
- Fiery or other RIP software
- DXF files or engineering drawings
- Sewing, cutting or assembly work
- AS9100, ISO or other quality-system experience
- Interest in automation
No aerospace experience needed. We will train you.
What we offer
- Paid, structured training with our Print Operations Manager
- Skills in AS9100D quality, traceability and controlled processes that travel with you
- Hands-on work with advanced automation starting in 2027
- Group benefits plan planned for January 2027; eligibility after six months
- Wage review at the end of probation
- Flexible scheduling; we work around appointments when we can
- Possible remote day for file prep after about six months, with approval
- A paid two to three hour working interview, so you see the job before you commit
Schedule
Weeks 1 and 2: weekdays, about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., training beside the Print Operations Manager. After training: an early shift (about 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or a later afternoon shift, with some overlap. Hours rise in busy periods and dip in slow ones. During rush orders, everyone pitches in.
Location
We plan to move print and cutting operations from Orillia to Barrie in 2028. The move is not final. We tell you now so you can weigh the commute.
How to apply
We are hiring now and review applications daily. Apply through Indeed with your resume and a cover letter.
Your cover letter must be one paragraph of no more than five sentences and 150 words. In it, tell us:
- Your level of experience with Adobe Illustrator.
- A time you followed detailed technical instructions with success.
- A time you measured, cut, assembled or inspected something to a set specification, and how you checked it.
- Your experience with Excel and keeping accurate records.
Examples from school, hobbies or personal projects count. We read every letter and reply to everyone we interview.
