Position Summary The YMCA of Cumberland is seeking a dependable and hardworking cleaner to join our team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness at YMCA locations in Amherst, Nova Scotia. This role is essential to ensure that facilities remain welcoming, protected and sanitary for staff, volunteers and community members.

Key Responsibilities

· Sweep, mop, vacuum and dust all common areas, hallways, offices, restrooms and program areas.

· Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and ensure proper disposal of waste.

· Clean and sanitize high-touch areas, such as door handles, light switches, handrails and elevator buttons.

· Clean restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors and replenish supplies (soap, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.).

· Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and break areas, including wiping down surfaces and cleaning appliances.

· Ensure all windows, mirrors and glass surfaces are clean and streak free.

· Monitor cleaning supplies and notify the Facility Manager when new stock is needed.

· Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facility Manager

· Perform periodic deep cleaning of all areas as required.

· Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained, stored properly, and kept in good working order.

· Follow all YMCA of Cumberland's policies and procedures including Child Protection and OH&S; guidelines.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:





· High School diploma or equivalent

· Previous commercial or facility cleaning experience preferred

Skills & Competencies:

· Knowledge of cleaning practices, tools, and safe chemical use.

· Ability to work independently with strong time management and prioritization skills.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.

Work Conditions

20-25 hours per week.

Evenings and weekends

Reliable Transportation

Must be able to lift 25 pounds, bend, kneel, reach and stand for extended periods.

$17.25 per hour
