Construction Field Superintendent
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Lead the People and Operations Behind the Projects
Our client is looking to add an experienced construction leader to their team. This is a growing specialty construction business working on a range of commercial and industrial projects throughout Winnipeg and the surrounding region.
The company is looking for someone who can take ownership of field operations, keep crews organized, and ensure projects are properly staffed, prepared, and completed to a high standard.
This role would suit someone who has progressed beyond supervising a single crew and is ready to take on responsibility for multiple teams and projects.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll act as the main point of coordination between the field and the office. You'll spend your time visiting jobsites, working with crew leaders, planning upcoming work, and making sure the right people and resources are in place.
The work involves specialty concrete and flooring applications, including industrial coatings, polished concrete, restoration, and waterproofing. Experience in these specific areas is helpful, but the company is open to someone bringing solid supervisory experience from another construction trade.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Oversee field activity across several projects, ensuring crews have clear direction and the resources needed to do their jobs.
- Coordinate daily and upcoming work, including labour requirements, equipment, materials, and scheduling.
- Make regular jobsite visits to assess progress, workmanship, productivity, and safety.
- Work with crew leaders to address challenges, resolve site issues, and maintain production.
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager on project priorities, scheduling, and resource planning.
- Help establish consistent work practices and expectations across field teams.
- Support employee development by coaching experienced installers and identifying potential future leaders.
- Maintain productive working relationships with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
The Experience We're Looking For
- Several years of experience in construction with previous responsibility for supervising crews or coordinating field operations.
- Background in commercial construction, concrete, asphalt, industrial services, flooring, restoration, or a related trade.
- Experience managing multiple jobsites or coordinating more than one crew at a time.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing, labour requirements, equipment, and jobsite logistics.
- Ability to recognize problems, make decisions, and keep work progressing without constant oversight.
- A straightforward leadership style with the ability to earn the respect of field employees.
- Comfortable working between the office and jobsites.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel locally.
Specialty flooring or industrial coatings experience is an advantage, but the company is more interested in finding someone with the right construction background and leadership ability.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Company vehicle for work-related travel.
- Employee benefits package.
- Established installation teams and a steady variety of projects.
- Considerable independence in managing field operations.
- Opportunity to influence how crews are developed and how projects are delivered.
- Long-term opportunity with an established and growing local business.
This is a good opportunity for an experienced construction supervisor who enjoys leading people, organizing work, and having a direct impact on how a business operates.
