Liteline Corporation is a privately held Canadian commercial lighting manufacturer with more than 160 employees, selling across Canada and the United States. We are adding a Director of Business Technology to our leadership team, a senior, hands-on role with ownership of technology across the business.
The first is the job every growing company needs: keep our technology running, secure and recoverable across roughly 130 computers, Microsoft 365, our server cluster and our network. Our own people, from the three Co-Presidents to staff in Finance, Product Development, Engineering and Customer Service, now build software tools with AI assistants. The Director of Business Technology will give that work a professional backbone: version control, permissions, backups and fast recovery.
This is an enabling role as much as a technical one. We want our people to keep building quickly. Liteline’s people are already creating their own tools with AI. We are looking for a leader who can keep the core IT workplace solid, put the right platforms and guardrails under home‑built software, and teach non‑programmers to work safely.
Own day-to-day IT across the business: computers, email, servers, networking, security and backups. Run Microsoft 365, including sign-in, multi-factor authentication (MFA), user access and licensing. Look after our on-premises server cluster, storage and network infrastructure.
Oversee security monitoring and incident response together with our security monitoring partner. Maintain tested backups and the ability to restore systems and data quickly. Lead the help desk and set the service standards the business is held to.
Administer hosted databases (Supabase / Postgres), including access control, backups and recovery. Manage website and application hosting (Netlify), including deployments, domains and environments. Decide what AI assistants can access and set sensible guardrails for company data and credentials.
Set light,
practical rules that protect the business without getting in the way of the people building. Decide which home‑built tools are business‑critical and what level of protection each one needs. Run training, enablement and “lunch and learn” sessions across the business.
Lead two on‑site IT staff. Manage our outside partners for managed services, security monitoring and backup. Own the technology budget, licensing and vendor relationships, and bring forward stronger options as the market moves.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWe are looking for a hands‑on technology leader who is equally comfortable running core IT and building platforms that sit under modern, AI‑assisted development. The successful candidate will understand infrastructure, identity and security, and will also understand how software is built, saved, deployed and recovered. Just as importantly, you will be able to explain those ideas in plain language to people who have never written code and help them adopt habits that last.
Experience running a Microsoft Power Platform Centre of Excellence, citizen‑developer or low‑code programme.
Solid
Microsoft 365, identity, MFA, endpoint and security fundamentals. A track record of training and enabling non‑technical staff, such as “lunch and learn” or enablement programmes.
Experience building a function or process from scratch at a growing company. Clear communication and sound judgment about when rules help and when they get in the way.
An IT lead at a 100‑to‑500‑person manufacturer or distributor who personally ran a Power Platform governance programme, a low‑code programme or the company’s GitHub organization.
A developer or DevOps engineer who moved into an IT management role at a small or mid‑sized company. A solutions architect or senior consultant at a managed services provider (MSP) serving small and mid‑sized businesses, ready to go in‑house. The “first IT hire” at a startup who set up sign‑in, devices and GitHub from scratch, then moved to a mid‑sized company.
REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPSThis position reports to the VP of Operations. You will work closely with Liteline’s three Co‑Presidents, who are technically capable and build their own tools, and with Finance, Product Development, Engineering and Customer Service. You will be a partner to the people building, not a gatekeeper.
LOCATION AND WORKING ARRANGEMENTThis position is based at Liteline's Richmond Hill head office and is on‑site five days per week with regular presence at our distribution facilities. The successful candidate should expect to be highly engaged with the business and to spend real time understanding how departments and facilities actually operate. THE OPPORTUNITYThis is a rare chance to shape how an established Canadian manufacturer builds and runs its technology at a moment when AI is changing who can create software.
Our leaders build with technology themselves and value this work. The Director of Business Technology will define the platforms, guardrails and habits that let the whole company build with confidence. WHAT WE OFFERLiteline offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and life insurance following three months of service, and a group RRSP with partial company match.
We are committed to accommodating people with disabilities throughout the recruitment and hiring process.
