Working Field Lead – Commercial Renovation

Location: Scarborough, ON (work at job sites)

Job type: Full-time, permanent

Reports to: Project Manager The role

Hillcrest Construction builds commercial and institutional interior renovations across the GTA. We are growing, and our schedule depends on one person on site who keeps work moving and stops mistakes before they are built in.

You run our main job site. About 80% of your time is on the tools with the crew, and the rest is leading: planning ahead, directing the crew and checking quality. Once a week you walk the look-ahead for every active site so nothing surprises us. When another job falls behind, you may be sent to get it back on track, and then you return to the main site.

We are not hiring someone to leave the tools for the office. We are hiring someone who makes the people and the work around them better while still doing the work.

Your five roles and how we'll know you're winning The Project Manager sets the targets with you in your first week. The percentages below are starting points.

- Run the site day: set the order of work, assign tasks, hold a daily toolbox talk, and stop any work that isn't safe. Toolbox talk held and logged every working day: 100%
- Work on the tools: about 80% of your time, alongside the crew. Work checked against the drawings before it is covered up: every time
- Look ahead: plan tomorrow, the day after and next week so materials, subtrades and equipment are ready. Subtrades confirmed at least one week before they start, with their Buildertrend PO and amount agreed: 95%
- Protect the margin: before doing any extra work, stop and tell the Project Manager, and report any cost, scope or schedule change the same day. Extra work flagged before it is done: every time
- Keep the record: enter your hours, photograph receipts to the right job and keep a short daily log in Buildertrend. Coded to the right job the same day: 95%

We also use the ideas you bring that save time or money on site.
