Position: General Labourer – Lobster Processing Plant

Department: Production / Operations

Reports To: Plant Supervisor

Position Summary The General Labourer is responsible for performing various duties associated with the handling, processing, packaging, and storage of live lobster. This position involves working in a fast-paced seafood processing environment while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, food safety, and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Sort, grade, weigh, and handle live lobster according to company standards.
- Assist with the receiving, unloading, and loading of lobster shipments.
- Pack lobster into crates, boxes, totes, and other containers for storage or shipment.
- Inspect lobster for quality, size, and condition, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain clean and sanitary workstations, equipment, and production areas.
- Follow established food safety procedures, sanitation protocols, and company policies.
- Move, stack, and organize products, supplies, and packaging materials throughout the facility.
- Assist with inventory handling and preparation of customer orders.
- Operate basic processing equipment and tools as instructed and authorized.
- Follow all occupational health and safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).




- Perform other general labour and production-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements
- No formal education or previous experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Previous experience in seafood processing, manufacturing, or general labour is considered an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in a cold, wet, and fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to work flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime when required.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily within a seafood processing facility.
- Regular exposure to cold temperatures, moisture, wet surfaces, and seafood products.
- Physical duties may include repetitive movements, prolonged standing, and lifting.
- Work schedules may vary depending on seasonal production demands and lobster availability.

Pay: $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 – 60.0 per week
