General Manager - Permanent - 4345

About the Opportunity An established ICI general contractor is looking for a General Manager to lead its Calgary operation.

This is the top seat in the office: you'll own the business, setting the strategy, building the team and making sure the work you win is work you can deliver well. The company has a strong reputation in the Calgary market, a healthy pipeline across commercial, institutional and industrial sectors, and a leadership group that wants a GM who will run the operation like it's their own.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Full P&L; responsibility for the Calgary operation, including annual business planning, budgeting and financial performance
- Setting strategy and growth targets across commercial, institutional and industrial markets
- Leading operations, preconstruction, estimating and business development so pursuits, pricing and delivery work as one team
- Building and keeping relationships with owners, developers, consultants and trade partners
- Making go/no-go calls on pursuits and overseeing risk, contracts and commercial terms on major projects
- Hiring, developing and keeping project managers, superintendents and estimators, with explicit career paths and succession planning
- Driving a strong safety culture and making sure the company's safety, quality and compliance standards are met on every site
- Reporting to senior leadership on performance, backlog, forecasts and market conditions

About You The successful candidate will have the following:

- 15+ years in commercial construction, including senior leadership roles at a general contractor




- Proven success running a business unit, region or branch with full P&L; accountability
- Strong knowledge of ICI delivery methods, including stipulated sum, CM, design-build and negotiated work
- An established network in the Calgary construction market
- A track record of building teams, mentoring staff and creating a culture people want to stay in
- Strong commercial, contract and negotiation skills
- A degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field (P.Eng. or GSC an asset)
