Position Summary

Linmark Steel Inc. is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious Painter / General Labourer to join our structural steel fabrication team.

This position is responsible for preparing and painting structural steel components, assisting with material handling, and supporting general shop operations. The ideal candidate has experience working in an industrial or steel fabrication environment, takes pride in producing quality work, and is willing to assist wherever needed to keep production running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Painting & Surface Preparation

- Prepare structural steel components for painting by cleaning, grinding, sanding, and removing rust, dirt, and debris.
- Apply industrial primers and coatings to structural steel using spray equipment, rollers, or brushes.
- Ensure proper paint coverage, finish quality, and compliance with job specifications.
- Inspect painted surfaces and complete touch-ups as required.
- Maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and safe working condition.
- Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of paints, solvents, and related materials.

General Labour & Shop Support
- Assist with moving, organizing, and staging structural steel materials throughout the fabrication shop and yard.
- Support fitters, welders, and other shop personnel with general labour tasks.
- Operate grinders and other basic hand and power tools.
- Assist with loading and unloading steel materials and finished products.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes when trained and authorized.
- Assist with preparing finished steel components for shipping and delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Perform other general shop duties as assigned by the Shop Supervisor.

Safety & Quality




- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection when required.
- Safely handle paints, chemicals, and equipment in accordance with WHMIS requirements.
- Identify and report hazards, equipment issues, and unsafe working conditions.
- Ensure work meets Linmark Steel's quality standards and customer specifications.

Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in industrial painting, structural steel fabrication, or a similar shop environment is preferred.
- Experience with spray painting equipment and industrial coatings is an asset.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes is an asset.
- Comfortable using grinders, hand tools, and other shop equipment.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and WHMIS.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and performing repetitive tasks in an industrial environment.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in a structural steel fabrication shop and yard.

Pay: $27.00-$32.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
