At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. The Marketplace organization at Lyft is responsible for accelerating the growth of the business while delivering on key business and financial metrics, and Pricing sits at the heart of it.
The Dynamic
Pricing & Offer Selection team uses real-time and historical data to set the price of every ride on Lyft, balancing price and ETA so riders have a great experience and drivers have earning opportunities when and where demand is highest. We're a tightly integrated team of software engineers and data scientists spread across the US and Canada. Engineers and scientists work side by side to take machine learning and optimization models from research to production while scaling our systems to handle more volume.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a group of 6-8 engineers. You'll own the reliability and evolution of dynamic pricing systems that operate at Lyft's full scale, partner closely with our technical and product leadership to define the roadmap, and grow a strong team of engineers. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys going deep on technical tradeoffs, cares equally about operational excellence and business outcomes, and is energized by working in a fast-paced environment with high impact.
Execution and Planning Own and drive engineering execution for the team's roadmap, from planning through delivery, adapting as priorities and business conditions change Define the team's engineering vision and short- and mid-term plans in partnership with Science and Product, making clear tradeoffs between technology, product and business needs Build relationships with key stakeholders to align on standards, identify collaboration opportunities,
and keep them informed of risks and dependencies Technical Leadership Understand the team's stack deeply and be accountable for architectural decisions Hire, develop and retain a diverse team of engineers, and build an environment where open, positive collaboration between engineering and science is the norm Set clear expectations, give timely feedback, evaluate performance fairly, and support each engineer's growth and career development Match people to opportunities that stretch them, and develop future technical leaders on the team Contribute to the broader Lyft engineering community through mentoring, interviewing and knowledge sharing S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience At least 5 years of software development experience, with enough technical depth to engage credibly in architecture and design discussions Proven track record of delivering projects end-to-end in a fast-paced environment, balancing speed with quality and sustainability Experience managing a diverse set of engineering roles — backend, web, mobile, and/or data — is a plus Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the team clearly to senior stakeholders and advocate effectively for resourcing and prioritization Extended health and dental coverage options,
along with life insurance and disability benefits Family building benefits Child care and pet benefits Access to a Lyft funded Health Care Savings Account RRSP plan with company match to help save for your future In addition to provincial observed holidays, salaried team members are covered under Lyft's flexible paid time off policy. The policy allows team members to take off as much time as they need (with manager approval). Hourly team members get 15 days paid time off, with an additional day for each year of service Lyft believes that every person has a right to equal employment opportunities without discrimination because of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status, disability, pardoned record of offences, or any other basis protected by applicable law or by Company policy.
Accommodation for persons with disabilities will be provided upon request in accordance with applicable law during the application and hiring process. Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week, including on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
