Topped Toys
Vancouver
Topped Toys is seeking applications to fill the role of Manufacturing & CAD Technician.
Are you a hands-on technical maker who loves 3D CAD, rapid prototyping, and bringing machinery setups to life on the shop floor?
About Topped Toys
Topped Toys is a leading manufacturer of high-end, body-safe platinum-cured silicone products designed for personal body contact use, based in Vancouver, BC. Known for our exceptional material integrity, independently verified biocompatibility, and specialized colour formulations, we are expanding our production capacity. We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing & CAD Technician to lead physical setup, 3D printing, and equipment upkeep across our production facility.
The Role
As our Manufacturing & CAD Technician, you will be the driving force turning engineering blueprints into physical reality. Partnering closely with our Consulting Engineer -- who oversees high-level process architecture, equipment engineering, and standard operating procedures -- you will own on-site fabrication and equipment readiness. When tooling or fixture needs are defined, you will design the CAD files, 3D print the parts, assemble the dispensing setups, and keep our production equipment operating at peak reliability.
What You'll Drive
- 3D Design & Rapid Prototyping: Model and 3D print master patterns, custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures based on engineering requirements.
- Equipment Setup & Maintenance: Prepare, run and maintain meter-mix pumping systems, dispensing units, and molds, keeping detailed logs of tool usage.
- SOP Execution & Feedback: Execute production setups strictly according to engineering SOPs, identifying floor bottlenecks and sharing practical feedback to refine procedures.
- Shop Floor Reliability: Keep dispensing, curing, and demanding areas organized and fully functional to prevent downtime.
- Cooperative Problem Solving: Partner with engineering leadership to test fixes for processing issues such as air entrapment, vacuum degassing, and viscosity variation.
What We're Looking For
- 3D CAD & Prototyping: Demonstrated ability to build 3D CAD models and operate additive manufacturing equipment for practical fixtures and tooling.
- Mechanical Execution: Proven experience setting up, operating, and servicing mechanical equipment or fluid handling setups.
- Attention to Detail: Strong discipline in following established SOPs, logging operational parameters, and maintaining accurate tooling records.
- Background: 2+ years in hands-on manufacturing, prototyping, or machine maintenance, backed by a technical diploma (eg. Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Technology) or equivalent shop-floor experience.
This position is a full-time, 6-month contract role and requires physical attendance at Topped Toy’s factory in Vancouver, Canada. Applicants should be legally eligible to work in Canada. The salary range is $60,000 - $75,000 CAD annually. Why Join Us?
If you enjoy the fast feedback loop of designing a fixture in CAD, 3D printing it, and seeing it improve production the very next day, this role is built for you. Join our Vancouver team to build the physical foundation of our growing manufacturing line!
Interested applicants should submit their cover letter, resume, and examples of relevant experience. Applications are accepted as long as this job posting is up.
Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
