Summary The Mechanical/Civil Engineering Drafting Technician will join the engineering team and work closely with Design Engineers to produce high quality equipment design/fabrication drawings and documentation. Fabrication activities take place in-house and the technician has the opportunity to see the products they’ve worked on before delivery to clients.

Responsibilities

- Read and interpret drawings.
- Participate in project kick-offs and scope-change meetings to interpret client standards and fabrication requirements.
- Create layouts, associative assemblies, and detailed AutoCAD drawings from client sketches, notes or direction from Design Engineers such as weldment assemblies, CNC machining detail specifications, mechanical assembly drawings, packaging assembly drawings.




- Produce Bills of Materials and supporting documentation.
- Maintain & update AFL’s AutoCAD library.
- Visit fabrication plant as needed to reconcile drawings.

Minimum Qualifications

- University degree or College diploma in mechanical/civil or engineering.
- 2-3 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
- Training and/or experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling & drafting.
- Reading and writing in English.
- Able to read a measuring tape.
- Be mechanically inclined.
