Located in Calgary's East Village, Nupo reflects the profound influence of Chef Darren MacLean’s mother on his cuisine. Her love of plants, vegan cooking, and deep appreciation for fish and sushi continue to shape the restaurant’s philosophy. Even the name NUPO is derived from her maiden name, Nuponnen, grounding the concept in family and personal history.

We are looking for an Omakase Sushi Chef who prepares and serves high-quality Omakase sushi, combining skilled food preparation and cooking with attentive hospitality. We also look for someone who can help create a welcoming restaurant experience through careful food handling, consistent service, and close coordination with the BOH and FOH team.

Duties:

- Prepare sushi and omakase sushi, as well as other menu items with care, maintaining clean work areas and following food safety practices.
- Coordinate kitchen workflow, guide team members, and support smooth food service during busy periods.
- Communicate with guests and colleagues about menu items, service needs,



and timing; assist with serving or bartending duties as needed.
- Take care of your sushi chefs, supervise and train.

Requirements: Required: Practical food preparation, cooking, food handling, and food safety capabilities are essential, along with clear communication, teamwork, and the ability to support organized kitchen service.

Preferred: Restaurant, kitchen, food service, food industry, or hospitality experience is valuable, as are supervising experience, team management, restaurant management, leadership, serving, and bartending skills. These strengths support consistent service and effective collaboration across restaurant operations. 3-5 years of omakase sushi chef experience is required.

Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
