If you see yourself as an editorial leader who brings a creative flair to storytelling, working innovatively with sound to create memorable moments for the audience, read on. You need to be in tune with what people are talking about so you can turn daily domestic and international news into relevant stories for our listeners.
You have to have the instincts to create engaging audio treatments from long form interviews to sound immersive documentaries. Your life experience and diverse perspectives or expertise will truly enrich Front Burner’s content. And because this is a news podcast it goes without saying, you must also have a clear understanding of our Journalistic Standards and Practices.
Develops the program content including assigning, researching, gathering, writing and/or editing Selects, vets,
re-writes and/or edits copy or text written by others Edits and mixes, or directs the editing and mixing of audio and/or visual elements Evaluates all facets of a production including the performance of the program and production team and freelance contributors Deep knowledge of the Canadian and international news landscape Ability to use a variety of software tools including content management systems and Dalet or similar audio editing software Demonstrated expertise in writing and vetting for broadcast and writing of host scripts - and an ability to capture a conversational tone Demonstrated ability to produce content that can work on multiple platforms Strong knowledge and understanding of, and/or connection to underrepresented communities across Canada Must be available to work on weekends as well as long days and late nights Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
