Our client is a well-established, project-driven group of companies operating within custom residential home building, multi-family developments, and exterior construction services across the Greater Edmonton Area and Central Alberta. Backed by ongoing projects and active operational demand, the organization is seeking a proactive, operationally engaged Senior Accountant to join their central finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this is an expansive, hands-on role designed for an accounting professional who excels at the intersection of corporate finance and operational project performance.

You will take ownership of full-cycle ledger integrity, intercompany reconciliations, and end-to-end job costing while working directly with operational teams to keep projects on budget. This position is on-site in Edmonton; candidates willing to complete an expedient relocation at their own expense are welcome to apply.

Operational Job Costing & Project Accounting: Partner directly with project managers and operations teams to track job costs, review project performance, monitor expense allocations, and flag budget-to-actual variances across all project phases. Drive period-end close procedures, maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, intercompany accounts, and external audit-ready working papers.

Cash Flow & Strategic Analysis: Support the CFO with cash flow management, forecasting, budgeting, and variance reporting for leadership.

Payroll & Statutory Governance: Execute payroll runs, ensuring accurate remittal of payroll source deductions, GST filings, Workers' Compensation, and year-end statutory compliance (T4s, ROEs).

Leverage

QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel models to streamline transactional workflows, enhance internal controls, and automate recurring reporting schedules.

Experience: 3+ years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience within construction, trades, residential building, or project-based environments. Demonstrated depth in project accounting, job costing, budget tracking, and operational cost analysis.

Payroll Execution: Direct, hands-on experience running payroll cycles and managing associated statutory filings.

Technical & Excel Toolkit: Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software; advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including complex formulas, data analysis, and financial reporting).

Designation: CPA designation or actively working toward CPA is strongly desired. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial concepts clearly to operational site teams, leadership, and external partners. Comprehensive extended health and dental coverage package.

Vacation & Time Off: 3 weeks of paid vacation, plus paid office closure between Christmas and New Year's. Coverage of CPA program fees and skilled dues.
