Lead hands-on photonic experimentation focused on homodyne detection, optical measurements, and integrated optical systems. Work spans laboratory validation and precision signal analysis. This Senior Photonic Engineer will design, develop, and experimentally validate integrated optical systems for next-generation computing applications. The work combines optical laboratory experiments, photonic integrated circuit characterisation, electronic control systems, and advanced signal processing.
You will collaborate with photonic design, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams to support system integration.Key Responsibilities:
Design and upgrade experiments using continuous-wave and pulsed lasersCharacterise balanced homodyne detectors for pulsed optical signalsAnalyse detection efficiency, noise, bandwidth, rejection,
and crosstalkDevelop signal processing for homodyne detection and tomographyImplement phase-locking, calibration, and frequency stabilisation systemsRequirements:
PhD in quantum optics, photonics, AMO, electrical engineering, or related fieldHands-on optics laboratory experience with integrated and fibre opticsExperience with interferometer locking and noise characterisationDirect experience with homodyne detection of optical signalsFamiliarity with detectors, amplifiers, RF electronics, and modulatorsApply photonic experimentation, homodyne detection, and signal processing expertise to integrated optical system validation.
