Design FPGA signal processing at icspi in Waterloo, Ontario, using DSP and control theory to enable parallel atomic force microscopy.
As an experienced DSP Firmware Engineer, you will own the path from raw sensor signals to picometer-level measurements. You will define architectures, implement filtering and demodulation, and develop control loops. The work spans FPGA firmware, hardware verification, and massively parallel arrays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define scalable FPGA and signal-processing architectures
- Translate noise, bandwidth, and channel requirements into plans
- Implement decimation, FIR/IIR filtering, demodulation, and PI loops
- Budget DSP slices, BRAM, and timing across growing arrays
- Build models, testbenches, and hardware verification experiments
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant engineering
- Five-plus years designing DSP filters and closed-loop control
- FPGA firmware experience for real-time processing or control
- Experience bringing up and characterizing firmware on hardware
- Robust foundation in DSP and control theory
Shape icspi’s real-time FPGA firmware with DSP, control loops, and verification for parallel nanoscale imaging systems.
