Lead complex CNG and diesel repairs as a Heavy Duty Mechanic with GFL Environmental in Coquitlam, BC, guiding daily shop work.

This Lead Heavy Duty Mechanic maintains GFL Environmental commercial diesel and alternative fuel trucks and heavy equipment. The position provides functional direction to mechanics while handling advanced electrical and hydraulic systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and CVIP inspections. The work also includes planning schedules, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Mentoring apprentice technicians and supporting their apprenticeship training are central responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Diagnose and repair complex CNG and diesel engines
- Repair advanced electrical and hydraulic systems




- Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections
- Plan and schedule shop work as required
- Mentor apprentices through their training programs

Requirements:

- Journeyman designation
- Valid driver’s license
- Own tools and willingness to acquire additional tools
- Red Seal preferred, especially with leadership experience
- Experience using diagnostic software and computer systems
