Maintain SCADA and process control systems as a full time Instrumentation and Controls Technician with The City of Red Deer in Alberta. Protect safe, reliable treatment plant operations.

This permanent position supports monitoring and control instruments in an operating water treatment plant. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, calibrate, and maintain equipment while preserving SCADA data integrity. The work includes PLC programming, HMI interfaces, VFDs, communication networks, and regulatory compliance. You will also support operators, engineers, contractors, consultants, vendors, and junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain control equipment
- Support SCADA, PLC, HMI, VFD, and communication systems
- Schedule preventive maintenance, shutdowns, start-ups, and emergency repairs




- Maintain technical records, schematics, logs, and asset databases
- Promote safety programs, inspections, hazard assessments, and compliance

Requirements:

- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Journeyperson Instrumentation and Control Technician certification
- Minimum five years industrial maintenance experience as a certified journeyperson
- Experience with Level III or IV treatment plants or comparable environments
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s licence
