The Registered Practical

Nurse (RPN) provides safe, competent, and person-centered nursing care within the scope of RPN practice under the direction of the Director of Care and the Registered Nurse. Deliver safe, effective, and person-centered nursing care in accordance with the RPN scope of practice, care plans, and regulatory standards. Support assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans collaboratively with clients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.

Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation using approved electronic health record systems and medication administration records. Facilitate clear communication with clients, families, physicians, and team members to ensure informed, respectful, and coordinated care as directed. Participate in staff orientation, mentoring, education, and performance feedback as assigned by nursing leadership.

Promote infection prevention,



health and safety, and emergency protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment for clients and staff. May coordinate and support Personal Support Workers (PSWs)/Health Care Aides to ensure clear direction and quality of care. May act as shift lead when assigned by leadership, coordinating workflow, resource allocation, and care delivery.

Uphold organizational policies, qualified ethics, and Ministry of Health requirements to support quality improvement and regulatory compliance.

Ministry

Unit leadership, staff, and volunteers. EMS, health care service agencies and providers), clients and clients' family members of ministry unit in person, students. Reports directly to the Director of Care.

Financial and Materials Management May be involved in minor financial transactions on a regular or relief basis and is expected to exercise sound judgment in the use of organizational and personal resources. May be authorized to handle small amounts of cash, including disbursements and collections. May be responsible for maintaining and tracking fixed asset inventories (e.g., medications, medical supplies, etc.).





May hold material responsibility for the proper care and maintenance of medical tools and equipment. Work is primarily performed indoors within the facility in a fast-paced environment. Some scheduled overtime and shift/weekend work may be required for this position.

Occasional travel within the city may be associated with this position. Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse's Program. Knowledge of Nursing standards/protocols and basic nursing care procedures is required in area of nursing specialty related to the job assignment.

Proficiency in MS office. Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures. Demonstrated commitment to client-centered care, treating others with respect and dignity.

Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff, clients, visitors, and the public.
