Stó:lō Elders Lodge Cook – Casual/On Call
Stó:lō Service Agency (SSA) requires the services of a Casual / On call Cook to fill a vacancy within the Stó:lō Elder’s Lodge (SEL). This position includes duties and responsibilities surrounding the preparation, service and clean-up of lunch, dinner, and snacks to the residents of SEL. Responsibilities also include maintaining food production safety standards including temperature audits, food substitution lists and more. Participation in and contribution to menu planning, food ordering, and resident satisfaction and safety will be expected with the goal of continuous quality improvement.
Based at SEL, this position reports directly to the SEL Manager.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Food Protected with current certification.
- Minimum of (1) year experience as a cook is desired.
- Physical abilities to carry out the job with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate programs and activities.
- Ability to maintain a healthy working relationship with staff, community representatives/members and representatives of other organizations, including collaboration with other SSA programs and staff as required.
- Must maintain the confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients, staff and SSA.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and an understanding of the cultural and political environment and/or possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Must demonstrate team building,
analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong time management, coordination, and ability to adapt.
- Ability to follow applicable policy, procedures, codes of ethics and mission statements.
- Must be able to work 8-12 hours shifts which may include evenings, weekends, and early mornings.
Successful candidates will be required to provide the following if called in for an interview:

- Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License.
- Must successfully pass Criminal Records Check.
Salary: Starting at $25.00 per hour based on qualifications/experience. Type of Position: Casual / On Callsubject to 3-month probationary period.
