Position Overview

Lion Guard Security is seeking physically fit, highly trained, and experienced Tactical Security Guards to join our growing security operations team in Toronto.

The ideal candidates will have previous experience in tactical mall security, retail loss prevention, apprehensions, arrests, and hands-on security interventions. This position requires individuals who are confident, alert, physically capable, and comfortable working in fast-paced retail and shopping mall environments where proactive security presence and the ability to respond to challenging situations are essential.

Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to safely manage confrontational situations while following applicable legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain a strong and visible security presence throughout assigned retail and shopping mall locations.
- Conduct proactive patrols to identify suspicious activity, potential theft, and security concerns.
- Respond to shoplifting incidents, aggressive individuals, trespassing, disturbances, and other security-related situations.
- Conduct lawful apprehensions and arrests when legally justified and within the scope of training and authority.
- Perform hands-on interventions when necessary, using approved techniques and only the level of force reasonably necessary and legally permitted.
- Demonstrate competency in use-of-force procedures, de-escalation, and physical intervention techniques.
- Work closely with mall management, retail employees, store leadership, and local law enforcement.
- Identify repeat offenders and communicate relevant information through established reporting channels.
- Complete detailed incident reports, apprehension reports,



and daily activity logs.
- Maintain professionalism and composure when dealing with difficult, aggressive, or non-compliant individuals.
- Follow all provincial security regulations, company policies, site-specific post orders, and health and safety requirements.

Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates MUST meet the following requirements:

1. Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence in good standing.
2. Previous experience in tactical mall security is mandatory.
3. Previous retail security or loss prevention experience is mandatory.
4. Demonstrated experience with lawful apprehensions and arrests.
5. Valid use-of-force training and practical experience with physical intervention techniques.
6. Physically fit and capable of handling demanding security assignments, including prolonged standing, walking, and physically challenging situations.
7. Comfortable handling hands-on situations when legally justified and necessary.
8. Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
9. Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive under pressure.
10. Clean and professional appearance with the ability to maintain company uniform standards.
11. Open availability is required.
12. Weekend availability is mandatory. Candidates must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience in high-traffic shopping malls and challenging retail environments.
- Experience working with repeat shoplifters and organized retail theft concerns.
- Additional use-of-force certifications and practical training.
- First Aid and CPR certification.




- Experience working alongside police services and mall management.
- Knowledge of retail loss prevention procedures and applicable laws surrounding arrest, detention, and use of force.

Physical & Professional Expectations

This is an active tactical security position, not a stationary security assignment.

Successful candidates must be prepared to:

- Conduct regular foot patrols throughout large shopping malls.
- Respond quickly to incidents and developing security situations.
- Demonstrate appropriate physical capability during lawful interventions.
- Maintain situational awareness and professional conduct throughout their shifts.
- Make sound decisions when dealing with confrontational and potentially high-risk individuals.

Physical fitness does not replace the requirement for proper training, sound judgment, de-escalation, and lawful conduct.

Pay: $17.60-$27.16 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 15.0 per week
