JL Metals is a steel fabrication company specializing in laser cutting, shearing, forming and welding. We are seeking a Technical Sales Administrative Assistant to prepare complex work orders for our production team and purchase orders for our suppliers. This role is well suited to someone who learns quickly, works accurately and can manage several orders with competing deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed work orders from quotes, customer purchase orders and job specifications. Clearly identify part numbers, material grades and thicknesses, quantities, processing requirements and due dates.
- Prepare purchase orders for materials and outside services, verifying pricing, specifications and delivery requirements.
- Review order documents for accuracy and completeness. Work with technical sales and production staff to resolve discrepancies before releasing orders.
- Prioritize work according to production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Maintain accurate job records and communicate revisions promptly to the people responsible for purchasing and production.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of steel grades,



material thicknesses and common fabrication processes would be a significant asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple orders and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail when reviewing part numbers, dimensions, quantities and pricing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn new systems, terminology and processes quickly.
- Transparent written and verbal communication skills, along with the judgment to ask questions when specifications are unclear.
- Experience preparing work orders or purchase orders in steel fabrication or manufacturing is an asset.
