Advance syngas fermentation research as an NRC postdoctoral researcher using microbial ecology and laboratory-scale bioreactors. This two-year fellowship investigates synthetic microbial consortia for productive ethanol production from syngas. Working under direct supervision in an NRC laboratory, you will study strain adaptation, community design, and consortium performance. The research contributes to low-carbon fuel value chains and carbon circularity.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate microbial strains adapted to syngas environments
- Conduct enrichment and adaptive laboratory evolution
- Construct microbial communities with complementary metabolic functions
- Test consortia in laboratory-scale bioreactors
- Lead experimental research within a multidisciplinary team
Requirements:
- Ph.
D. in microbiology or another relevant discipline
- Experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or microbial ecology
- Genomic or metagenomic data integration experience
- PhD completed since July 1, 2024, or soon completing
- English or French language proficiency Bring microbial research expertise, adaptive evolution experience, and bioreactor evaluation skills to NRC syngas fermentation.
