Job Description:

The person will be responsible for application development, enhancement, maintenance and production support for BC Hydro Corporate / Vendor applications. The role requires hands-on experience in Microsoft .NET technologies, VB/VB.NET, C#, Classic ASP/VB6 legacy support, SQL/database troubleshooting, and Crystal Reports development and support.

Key Accountabilities

• Understand business requirements, incidents, service requests and change requests for BC Hydro Corporate / Vendor application support.

• Develop, maintain and enhance applications using .NET Framework/.NET, C#, VB.NET, VB6/Classic ASP and related Microsoft technologies.

• Support legacy applications including VB6, Classic ASP, MS Access and custom .NET applications.

• Design, modify, troubleshoot and support Crystal Reports.

• Analyze application, database, reporting and interface issues and implement fixes within SLA timelines.

• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views and scripts.

• Participate in incident, problem, request, change and release management.

• Perform unit testing, regression support, deployment validation and post-implementation support.

• Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, release notes, known error records and knowledge articles.

• Coordinate with business users, application owners, database, infrastructure and vendor teams.

• Follow secure coding, access control, change management and data handling guidelines.

• Support continuous improvement, stabilization, knowledge transition and modernization readiness.





Experience Required

• Valuable communication skills with business users, technical teams, application owners and support stakeholders.

• Minimum 5-8 years of application development, enhancement and production support experience.

• Strong .NET Framework/.NET, C# and VB.NET experience.

• VB6, Classic ASP and MS Access legacy application support preferred.

• Crystal Reports development, modification, troubleshooting and deployment support.

• SQL Server or equivalent RDBMS, SQL queries, stored procedures and data analysis.

• L2/L3 support, RCA, defect fixes, minor enhancements and production issue resolution.

• Web application support, IIS, Windows Server, logs and configuration troubleshooting.

• Git/Azure DevOps/Jira/ServiceNow or similar tools.

• Technical design notes, runbooks and deployment steps.

• Ability to work independently with onsite/offshore teams.

Technical Skills

• .NET Framework/.NET, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Microsoft application development.

• VB6, Classic ASP, MS Access and legacy application support.

• Crystal Reports, parameters, subreports and deployment support.

• SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, views, functions, jobs and basic performance troubleshooting.
