Schedule: Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. — 12.5 hours/week

Location: Oak Bay, BC — in person (exact address shared with shortlisted candidates)

About the role

We're a family in Oak Bay looking for a high-energy, playful lunch supervisor and cook for our two kids (ages 7 and 9) at our home-based schoolhouse. The most important part of this job: making the lunch break a genuine escape from their schooldays — an hour where they're laughing at the table, then burning off energy outside in the fresh air before afternoon lessons. We need someone who brings big kid-energy every single day: someone who invents games, leads tag and scavenger hunts and obstacle courses, races them around the yard, AND cooks healthy lunches the kids actually get excited about. Think camp counsellor meets home cook. It's the same two kids every day, all year — you'll quickly learn exactly what makes them laugh.

What your day looks like

11:00 – 12:00: Grocery run (2–3 days a week) and lunch prep — simple, healthy, kid-approved meals you plan and shop for within a set weekly budget
12:00 – 12:50: The best part of their day — serve lunch, sit and eat together (screens off, jokes on), then straight outside for active play: the games you planned, the fresh air, the energy burned
12:50 – 1:30: Kitchen cleanup and reset, stock check, and light prep so tomorrow's lunch is easy — then done by 1:30
What you'll do

Make lunchtime FUN — this is the heart of the job. The midday break should feel like recess and summer camp, not a second period
Plan and lead games and activities, rain or shine — obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, ball games, puddle-splashing missions — keeping a rotating list so it never gets stale
Get the kids outside every single day for fresh air and to burn off energy

Cook healthy lunches the kids genuinely eat — and keep the table talking and laughing
Shop for groceries within an agreed budget; submit receipts for reimbursement
Keep the kitchen clean and food-protected; flag any allergies, preferences, or concerns to the parents
Communicate simply and reliably — a quick note or text about what was eaten, what you played, and how the day went
What we're looking for

Fluent in English (spoken) — required. You'll be leading games, telling stories, and keeping two kids engaged and laughing for over an hour a day
A ton of energy and genuine enjoyment of playing with kids — you're out there IN the game with them, not supervising from the porch
You are legally entitled to work in Canada
1+ year of experience with children — nannying, camps, daycare, coaching, or rec programs all count (camp-counsellor energy is exactly what we want)
A valid BC driver's licence and a reliable, insured vehicle for grocery runs (mileage reimbursed at $0.73/km, the 2026 CRA rate)
You can reliably commute to Oak Bay Monday to Friday for an 11:00 a.m. start
All-weather enthusiasm — Victoria rain doesn't cancel play, it just changes the game
A vulnerable-sector criminal record check is required before your first day
Nice to have (not required): FOODSAFE Level 1 or willingness to complete it · First Aid/CPR certification · experience with picky eaters or dietary needs

Pay details: $25.00/hour, paid semi-monthly. Groceries reimbursed at cost with receipts against a set weekly budget. Paid sick days and statutory holiday pay as required under BC employment standards.

How to apply: Tell us briefly about your experience with kids and cooking healthy food they'll eat. Then the fun part: describe one game or activity you'd run with a 7- and 9-year-old on a rainy November day, and one lunch that would make them cheer. We want to feel your energy from the application itself.

Benefits: Casual dress · On-site parking
(Part-Time, Live-Out)
For day (nanny-attendant)
