Barrie

Do you build things just because you can?

Are you the person who spends evenings 3D printing, designing something in SketchUp, building a custom PC, experimenting with electronics, or figuring out how to make something that doesn't exist yet?

Do you follow makers on YouTube, create your own content, or have a workshop full of unfinished ideas and ambitious projects?

If making things is more than a job to you, we want to meet you.

We're looking for a creative, technically capable Maker & Content Creator to work directly alongside the owner of several businesses involved in product development, technology, manufacturing, aquarium and reptile products, custom signage, electronics, and consumer gadgets.

This is not a traditional assistant position.

We're looking for someone with imagination, technical ability, and the drive to turn ideas into real, working products.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

Imagine having access to a professional manufacturing facility filled with CNC routers, industrial lasers, large-format printers, 3D printers, fabrication equipment, and the resources to bring ideas to life.

Now imagine working directly with a business owner who is constantly developing new products, exploring technology, and building businesses across multiple industries.

That's this position.

You'll be involved in everything from initial concepts and 3D design to prototyping, production, content creation, and launching products online.

Some days you'll be designing. Other days you'll be building, troubleshooting, filming, researching, or developing something entirely new.

We want someone who gets excited by that variety.

What You'll Be Doing

Create, Design & Build

- Turn ideas and concepts into functional products and prototypes.
- Design in SketchUp and other 3D modeling software.
- Work with 3D printers, CNC routers, lasers, and fabrication equipment.
- Build products using electronics, aluminum, acrylic, PVC, wood, plastics, and other materials.
- Experiment with new technologies, manufacturing techniques, and materials.
- Research components, develop solutions, and improve existing designs.

Create Content & Share the Process

- Film and photograph projects from concept to completion.
- Create engaging YouTube videos, Shorts, Reels, and social media content.
- Showcase product development, manufacturing processes, and interesting builds.
- Help develop content ideas and grow our brands' online presence.
- Support Shopify, Etsy, and other e-commerce platforms.
- Help tell the story behind the products we're creating.

Take Ownership of Projects

- Work directly with the owner on new concepts and product development.
- Take projects from initial direction through research, design, purchasing, prototyping, and completion.
- Manage timelines, budgets, and materials.
- Solve problems independently and keep projects moving.
- Coordinate with our production and fabrication teams.
- Deliver completed work with minimal supervision.

The Workshop

Our facility includes:

- Multiple industrial CNC routers
- CNC laser cutting and engraving equipment
- Large-format digital printers and vinyl cutters
- Large-format UV direct-to-substrate printing
- Multiple ELEGOO OrangeStorm Giga 3D printers
- Multiple Bambu Lab H2S printers
- An expanding professional 3D print farm
- Aluminum welding and fabrication capabilities
- Woodworking, acrylic, PVC, and custom fabrication equipment
- Electronics, LED systems, computers, and testing equipment

You don't need to know how to operate everything immediately, but you should be excited to learn.

The Skills You Need

We're looking for someone with a strong foundation in making and technology.

Essential Skills

- Experience using SketchUp or comparable 3D design software.
- Practical 3D printing experience.
- Strong computer and PC hardware knowledge.
- Basic electronics knowledge and mechanical aptitude.
- Hands-on experience building or modifying physical products.
- Ability to research, troubleshoot, and learn independently.
- Strong organization and project follow-through.
- Ability to work within budgets and meet deadlines.
- Creativity, initiative, and a genuine interest in technology.

Bonus Skills

- YouTube or social media content creation.
- Video editing, photography, and storytelling.
- An existing maker-focused YouTube channel or social media account.
- Adobe Illustrator, CAD, or product design.
- CNC routing, laser cutting, and fabrication.
- Shopify, Etsy, or online product sales.
- Arduino, Raspberry Pi, LEDs, and automation.
- PC gaming, custom PC builds, and gaming hardware.
- Experience creating and selling your own products.

We're Looking for a Maker, Not Just an Employee

You might already have a YouTube channel where you share builds.

Maybe you post your 3D printing projects on Instagram or TikTok.

Maybe you've designed and sold products on Etsy.

Or perhaps you have a workshop at home where you're constantly building, experimenting, and learning.

We want someone who is naturally curious, creative, resourceful, and passionate about what they do.

We care more about what you've created than what your diploma says.

Independence & Expectations

This position requires someone who can take an idea and run with it.

You'll receive direction, project objectives, budgets, and deadlines, but we expect you to figure out the details, research solutions, and deliver finished results.

You'll be working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change and multiple projects may be happening simultaneously.

This is a full time, on-site position in Barrie, Ontario. Flexibility for overtime is required to meet project deadlines and production needs, with compensation in accordance with applicable employment standards.

Show Us What You've Made

A portfolio or examples of your work are required to apply.

We specifically encourage applicants to share their:

- YouTube channels
- Instagram, TikTok, or other maker-focused social accounts
- 3D printing projects
- Custom PC or electronics builds
- SketchUp designs and prototypes
- Etsy stores or products they've developed
- Personal websites or maker portfolios
- Videos or photographs of projects they've completed

Your work doesn't need to be professionally produced, and you don't need thousands of followers.

We want to see your creativity, technical ability, and passion for making things.

Why Work With Us?

You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple industries, use professional manufacturing equipment, develop real products, create content, and contribute to new businesses and product launches.

You'll work directly with the owner, have meaningful responsibility, and see your ideas become physical products.

We're building products, exploring new technologies, and constantly experimenting with what's possible.

If you're the kind of person who would rather build something than buy it, we want to hear from you.

Apply with your resume, examples of your work, and links to any YouTube channels or social media accounts where you share your projects.

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week

Benefits:

- Company events

- Extended health care
- On-site parking
