Job Overview

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dependable 1:1 Childcare Aide to provide individualized support for a child with complex needs within our childcare program.

The successful candidate will work closely with the child, family, educators, and other professionals to help the child safely and meaningfully participate in daily routines, play, learning opportunities, and social experiences.

The child requires a higher level of individualized supervision and support, so we are looking for someone who is patient, attentive, confident, and able to adapt their approach based on the child's needs.

Responsibilities

- Provide consistent 1:1 supervision and support throughout the child's day
- Support the child's safety, comfort, emotional regulation, communication, and participation in the classroom
- Assist the child with transitions, routines, play, outdoor activities, meals, and other daily experiences
- Implement individualized strategies and goals developed in collaboration with the child's family and professional support team
- Recognize the child's cues and respond appropriately to their individual needs
- Use positive, developmentally appropriate behaviour-support and co-regulation strategies
- Support inclusion by helping the child participate alongside their peers whenever appropriate
- Provide personal care assistance as required, including toileting/diapering, feeding, dressing, and hygiene
- Observe and document progress, behaviours, concerns, and significant changes




- Communicate openly and professionally with educators, supervisors, families, and specialists
- Follow all individualized safety plans, care plans, and centre policies
- Maintain the child's dignity, privacy, and well-being at all times

We are looking for someone who is:

- Experienced working with children with complex, developmental, behavioural, medical, or additional support needs
- Patient, compassionate, calm, and comfortable providing a high level of individualized care
- Able to build a trusting and consistent relationship with a child who may require additional time and support
- Knowledgeable about child development, inclusion, behaviour support, and co-regulation
- Comfortable following individualized plans and recommendations from families and professionals
- Able to remain attentive and provide close supervision throughout the day
- A strong communicator and collaborative team member
- Adaptable and able to respond calmly when a child's needs or behaviours change
- Comfortable providing personal care when required

Pay: $19.59 per hour
