ProForma Engineering is seeking an experienced Process Piping Designer to develop and coordinate practical industrial piping designs, from 3D modelling and detailed drawings through construction support. With offices in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Red Deer and Fort McMurray, Alberta, we offer opportunities to work on a variety of industrial projects.

What You’ll Do

- Develop 3D piping models, layouts, isometrics, general arrangements, fabrication drawings, and construction packages.
- Design piping routes, equipment connections, tie-ins, and supports with safety, constructability, operation, and maintenance in mind.
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines; create/review P&IDs;, review vendor drawings, and models to resolve clashes and design issues.
- Prepare material take-offs, bills of materials, line and valve lists, and related piping documentation.
- Support site walkdowns, as-built verification, design reviews, fabrication, and construction; guide junior designers and manage assigned deliverables.

Experience

- 5+ years of industrial piping design experience in consulting engineering, EPC, manufacturing, mining, energy, utilities, or related sectors.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design Technology, or a related engineering technology discipline.
- Preparing piping layouts, isometric drawings, general arrangements, fabrication drawings, and coordinated 3D models.
- Understanding of project deliverables from concept selection to detailed design.
- Creating and working with pipe specification libraries for use in CAD software.
- Strong understanding of P&IDs;, piping specifications, line classes, pipe supports, and industrial design standards for IFR, IFA, IFC and as-built requirements.




- Knowledge of industrial process piping, utilities, pumps, tanks, vessels, and mechanical equipment.
- Coordinating piping design with mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process teams.
- Model reviews, clash detection, vendor drawing reviews, field investigations, and as-built verification.
- Ability to prepare material take-offs, bills of materials, line lists, and valve lists.
- Familiarity with applicable ASME piping codes and CSA standards.
- Participating in design, constructability, and HAZOP reviews and supporting construction queries.
- Ability to manage deliverables independently, communicate clearly, and mentor junior designers.
- Eligibility for registration with CTTAM or an equivalent provincial technology association is an asset.
- Proactive problem-solver with a strong sense of ownership who actively seeks out tasks and new projects
